SAN JOSE (KRON) — San Jose police are investigating a homicide on East South 11th Street at San Antonio Street on Tuesday afternoon, according to a tweet from police.
Police said they got a call about a person shot at around 2:11 p.m. When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were rushed to the hospital but one of the victims died there, police said.
Witnesses described what unfolded near San Jose State University. The shooting happened in the street outside frat and sorority houses.
“I just saw his blank eyes…his eyes were kind of closed, open mouth, not really responding to what his friend was saying,” Joshua Rosado said.
Rosado described the moments he came across a man who had just been shot to death inside a minivan and outside of a fraternity house.
Rosado was exiting that house when it all went down.
“I hear a quick three to five gunshots…,” Rosado said.
Two people inside the minivan were hit with bullets. Police said they are still trying to determine the circumstances around the shooting.
Police do not know the motive at this time.
No suspects have been identified or located, police said. Witnesses tell KRON there was a getaway SUV, described as a white or silver Chevy Equinox.
Traffic is being diverted. Police are asking drivers to use alternate routes.
This is the second homicide in the city in two days. And it is San Jose’s 24th homicide of the year.
