SAN JOSE (KRON)—Sacred Heart Community Service in San Jose is searching has been providing holiday food boxes to the less fortunate since 1964, but they are short 2,200 turkeys this Thanksgiving, according to staff members.

The food distribution starts Monday at 5 a.m. and continues through 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The group expects 4,200 families to pick up fresh vegetables, bread and pantry items.

Only about 2,000 of those families will get the food boxes.

Anyone who is able to bring a turkey to Sacred Heart can drop it of at its donation center at 1381 S. First St. on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
