SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — KRON has obtained new video of police saving a man’s life at San Francisco International Airport, and it is intense.
The man had a heart attack and collapsed. It happened at baggage claim at SFO.
Under all these people trying to help is Terry Bishop. He came to San Francisco to visit his grandson.
And while getting his bags, he started to feel sick and collapsed to the floor.
He had a heart attack on vacation.
Security video from SFO shows right after the 61-year-old started to get help.
First, he got help from another traveler, who is a doctor. Terry was not breathing and had no pulse.
Then, a police aide came to help, who brought in the automated external defibrillator or AED machine.
Then, another officer came and puts the pads on his chest and you can see them wait, as the first shock goes through.
A few seconds later, the man needs CPR and needs chest compressions.
After a few minutes, the man has a weak pulse.
This happened in July, and we are now hearing from the responding officers who saved this man’s life.
To the one who did CPR, this is all about training. That is why he is here now.
Bishop did go to the hospital, and his grandson met him.
He is now back home in Georgia.
The responding officers who brought the AED device and did chest compressions said the help of the passenger, the fire department, the EMS workers, and the doctors at the hospital, all helped saved Terry’s life.
