ROANOKE (WSLS/KRON) — Another major chain business facing financial struggles is making cuts.
Ruby Tuesday announced earlier this week it’s closing 95 of it’s more than 700 locations by September.
Ruby Tuesday at Valley View Mall in Roanoke is one of those locations. Ruby Tuesday staff there confirm that the location has closed, although no reason was given.
According to staff, customers are now being directed to the Ruby Tuesday location at Cave Spring in Roanoke.
Total revenue at Ruby Tuesday stores across the country dropped 5.9-percent or $17.5 million in the quarter ending May 31 compared to the same period last year.
The closing is also due to a decline in customers. The number of guests in restaurants dipped 4.6 percent as the average bill rose by 0.9 percent.
According to Ruby Tuesday, full and part-time employees at the closing restaurant will be offered positions at nearby locations where it’s possible.
There are seven locations in California, but none in the Bay Area.
The closest is in Woodland in Yolo County.
