ALAMEDA (KRON) — The rain made for a slow and slippery commute Monday morning.

The rain started early and that caused some headaches for the morning commute. The rain took some people by surprise, especially on how hard it was at times — and how cold.

At the Alameda Ferry, people dodged rain drops and bundled up. The parking lot was full of water with some localized flooding.RELATED: Storm brings snow to California for second-straight week, resorts open

Some commuters were prepared, while others were not.

“Yeah, it was kind of nice to lie in it a little bit longer and listen to the rain,” commuter Tristin Leemaster said.

One dog’s owner said the thunder and lightning really freaked out her pet.

“He spent the morning under his pillow,” Alameda resident Camille Spaulding said. “It’s been so long since there’s been a real storm here, he forgot what a real storm was.”

Although there was a wet and dangerous commute, many people said they were overall very happy to have the rain.

In Marin County, there was minor flooding on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, enough to cause a traffic backup.

Most drivers were proceeding with caution, helped by the fact extra CHP crews were on the road.
