SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Tempers flared in San Francisco Wednesday night, as members of the public clashed with police at a regularly scheduled San Francisco Police Commission meeting.
Protesters demanded justice for Mario Woods, the 26-year-old black man killed by officers last month while holding a knife.
Dozens of protestors held signs, calling for San Francisco police Chf. Greg Suhr’s ouster.
Members of the Justice for Mario Woods coalition shouted down officers with the San Francisco Police Officer’s Association while they defended their chief and organization, backing the five officers involved in the deadly December shooting.
The five officers have now been cleared to return to work.
At times, the police commission almost shut the meeting down because of how loud it got.
After a few officers spoke, most members of the POA walked out of the Salvation Army Kroc Center in unison, once again to another round of boos and calls for Suhr to resign or be fired.
