FAIRFIELD (KRON) — Fairfield police are investigating the assault of a woman that happened at the Solano Town Center mall in Fairfield, according to police spokesman Jeff Osgood.

Osgood said it happened Wednesday morning at around 11:55 a.m. While paramedics were dealing with a medical call at the west end of the mall, they were told that a woman had been assaulted in a nearby parking lot, according to Osgood.

Paramedics then alerted police. The victim was taken to a trauma center for treatment.

Osgood said the female victim, who is 63 years old, suffered life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition. She suffered significant head injuries.

The suspect, who police have identified as 19-year-old William David King, was being sought for a similar crime on Tuesday in Vallejo. Vallejo police arrested King in the 100 block of Fairmont Avenue in Vallejo at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Police recovered items from the Fairfield case, police said.

King is being booked into Solano County Jail for robbery and attempted murder in both cases.
