AUSTIN (KXAN) – A cellphone video uploaded to YouTube showing two men fighting each other on a busy Austin street after an apparent road rage incident has caught the attention of the Austin Police Department.

According to the person who posted the video, the fight happened on Monday around 10:45 a.m. on East Slaughter Lane near Interstate 35. One man can be walking up to a pick-up truck with a bat to confront the driver in the truck. The truck driver jumps out and proceeds to grab his own weapon from the bed of his truck. The altercation lasts for less than a minute.

“I would urge citizens not to get involved in a disturbance,” says Officer William Costello. “Just be the best witness you can. Instead of filming, call 9-1-1.”

Police say they were notified of the incident but no arrests have been made and they have not identified the individuals involved.

If you’re involved in a road rage incident, Costello wants to remind you to be mindful of the decision you make next. “We ask that you do not pull over because that might escalate the incident. Do not ever go home because you don’t want that person knowing where you live. So just get to a safe place, call 911 and just wait til the police arrive.”
