OAKLAND (KRON) — Oakland Police officers responded to a possible kidnapping in North Oakland that lead to rescuing four teenage girls and two arrests in an ongoing sex trafficking investigation.
On Wednesday morning around 9:15 a.m., a witness called Oakland police and said a male suspect was taking a female hostage in the 1000 block of 65th Street, according to Officer Johnna Watson.

Oakland police responded to the area and set up a perimeter and conducted a preliminary investigation, speaking to numerous witnesses.
Information obtained led police to a residence about a block away, in the area of Herzog Street and 65th Street.
Oakland police called Berkeley police to the scene, authorities shut down streets to search for the female victim and male suspect.
Police had a house surrounded, located on the corner of 65th and Herzog streets, near the Yu Ming Charter School at 1086 Alcatraz Avenue, a K-8 school for Mandarin immersion education.
There was approximately a three-hour standoff in the area.
During the preliminary investigation, police rescued the victim, a 14-year-old girl. She was safely located and advised the officers that she had been kidnapped. Officers learned she the teenage female was walking down the street that morning and had been kidnapped by the male suspect. Police did not release how or where they rescued the girl.
Soon after, just before 12:00 p.m., officers detained and identified the suspect, a male in his 20s, was taken safely taken into custody.
The residence of interest was searched for any additional victims, suspects, and witnesses with negative results. Several other male and females in the house were detained.
The victimized girl was reunited with her family.
The Oakland Police Department Special Victims Section-Vice/Child Exploitation Unit investigators have confirmed this incident is in connection to human sex trafficking.
Three young girls, ages 14, 25, and 16, were rescued by police officers at the residence that is under investigation. The residence is located in the 1000 block of 65th Street in North Oakland.
Two suspects were arrested. A 21-year-old male suspect and a 22-year-old female suspect.
The residence is still being investigated at this time.
There was heavy police activity in the area as the department is conducting an investigation. Streets were closed, and residents were asked to avoid the area and to use alternate routes.
Around 12:13 p.m., the police activity in the area was concluding.
