SYLMAR (KRON) — A young bear is back in the wild after leading officials on a two-hour chase near Los Angeles.

The animal was first seen roaming on the campus of Mission College in Sylmar on Monday night. Students and staff were told to shelter in place.

Police and other officials went after the bear, but he kept getting away. He scaled walls and fences in the neighborhood and ran through streets and front yards.

An animal control officer eventually tranquilized him.

The bear was later released into the Angeles National Forest.CNN contributed to this report
