OAKLAND (KRON) — The Oakland Unified School District has voted to impose massive budget cuts on Monday night.

The budget cuts were approved 6-1.

Teachers in Oakland were rallying against what they called “morally wrong” cuts.

Oakland Unified was facing a potential shortfall of $15 million, and the district was looking at broad cuts.

The Oakland Education Association was asking the district to limit the cuts to $1.2 million.

The meeting started at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON:
