OAKLAND (KRON) — On Friday, the Oakland Police Department unveiled its new substation on High Street.

It will also double as a community resource center, which is why KRON4’s Philippe Djegal reports that city leaders hope this brings police and the community closer together.

It is located on Highland Square, which councilmember Noel Gallo said was once a hotbed for crime.

The plan is for the space to evolve as time goes on.

If you are in the area, Assistant Police Chief David Downing says to stop by and say hello.
