Video: Oakland police still investigating if man was pushed off ledge at Oracle Arena after Game 7 of NBA Finals

OAKLAND (KRON) — More than 72 hours after a man fell off a ledge at Oracle Arena, no suspects have been named in the case.

In fact, officers said they are still trying to determine if that man was even pushed at all.

Two separate witnesses have told KRON that the young man was pushed off a ledge, but investigators are not yet ready to confirm that actually happened. And as all this is going on, the man who fell is still in the hospital.

Twenty-one-year-old Salvator Bimbo fell from a ledge inside Oracle Arena after Game 7 of the NBA Finals. At least two witnesses said that Bimbo was pushed, but Oakland police officers said they are still trying to figure out if that was the case.

“We want to make it clear that investigators are still determining whether or not an actual crime had occurred, or if it was some other incident that caused this man to fall off the railing,” officer Marco Marquez said.

Witnesses tell KRON that Bimbo was pushed off a ledge by a Cleveland Cavaliers fan. Those witnesses said it happened in an area inside the arena near the concession stands and the windows.

One of those witnesses is Salvator’s brother.

“My 12-year-old son told me that somebody picked him up from his legs and pushed him over while he was recording…,” Salvator’s father Ronnie said.

Officers are now asking for anyone who was sitting in or near Sections 219 and 220 to come forward and help them with the case.

“Whether they’re witnesses or they had the incident on camera to provide that information to us, so that we can come to a resolution and completion of this case and find out what happened,” Marquez said.

Officers were clear that they assist Oracle Arena with its security.

Those from the arena tell KRON they had extra security in place after Game 7 just as they had for all playoff games.
