SANTA CRUZ COUNTY (KRON) — Northbound Highway 17 is still shut down on Tuesday after a large landslide.

There is currently two-way traffic going through the southbound lanes.

Crews were camped out with their gear early Tuesday morning waiting for the sunlight because it was too dark and dangerous to begin work.

Traffic is extremely slow, especially through the area around Vine Hill Rd.

KRON4 reporter, Will Tran, reported the commute time traveling along Highway 17 is between two and three hours.

Caltrans workers are stretched then, according to officials.

The workload is too much and the resources are too little.

Clearing the mudslides won’t be a quick fix, officials said.

Of course, you can check out KRON4’s traffic page for all your latest traffic.
