LOUISIANA (KRON)—A TV news photographer in Louisiana has a dramatic story to tell Tuesday night and so does the pregnant woman he rescued from a burning car.
The photographer and reporter saw a car ahead of them suddenly run off the road and crash into trees.
Patrick Perry handed his camera to the reporter and ran to the burning car.
Perry grabbed the woman who is seven and a half months pregnant and carried her across the road to safety.
Other people were calling 9-1-1.
Perry said later it was strange to be on the other side of the camera and talked about what happened.
“I pulled on the driver’s side and he did not want to open. I started looking for something on the ground to bust the window open, then I started hearing a voice. Very soft, very soft voice. It started saying ‘I’m over here’, so I ran on the other side of the car and then she’s saying ‘I’m seven and a half months pregnant.’ I told her I said it’s going to be fine. You’re going to be safe.”
The 21-year-old woman seemed confused and weak, but didn’t appear to be severely injured.
Paramedics arrived and took her to the hospital.
No word tonight on how she’s doing.
Patrick said he was glad he was nearby to help saying “We’re human first, and tell the story second.”
