The family of a Southern California man killed by a train a year ago has released security video of the incident.
They claim it shows a police officer throwing the man into the path of the oncoming train. Some viewers may find the video upsetting.
The man who was killed was 23-year-old Cesar Rodriguez.
Long Beach police say he was stopped on suspicion of not paying his fare and then drugs were found on him and he tried to run.
The man’s family says it took them months to get the video from security cameras aboard a blue line train. Police say the officer involved accidentally fell back during a scuffle.
But relatives believe the officer threw Rodriguez into the path of the train. The family has hired an attorney, who says the officer should never have tackled the man so close to the tracks.
A lawsuit is pending.
Long Beach police say the officer is still with the department and won’t comment further because of the pending litigation.
