VIDEO: Man drives up to teen girls in Millbrae, harasses them

MILLBRAE (KRON) — The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two suspicious incidents where teen girls were approached by a man in a car as they were walking, deputies said.

The first incident happened on Wednesday at around 9 a.m. in the area of Palm Avenue and Taylor Boulevard. The man drove up to a 14-year-old girl in a golden brown minivan.

The second incident also happened on Wednesday at about 2:30 p.m. on East Hillcrest Boulevard just east of El Camino Real. The man drove up to a 13-year-old girl in a silver Mini Cooper, with black and white checkers on the side of the car.

In both incidents, the man tried to have a conversation with the girls. The girls ignore the suspect and walk away, deputies said.

Officers have increased patrols in the area but cannot find the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man who’s in his late 20s to mid-30s. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a stocky build, black hair, brown eyes, and a goatee.

Here is the full statement from Taylor Middle School:

Dear Parents and Guardians of Taylor Middle School,

On Thursday at 2:15 pm we received a message from the San Mateo Sheriff’s Department about two incidents that occurred on Wednesday, October 25. A 20-25 years-old, medium complexion, 5’8″ tall Hispanic male with short spiky hair and wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and silver cross necklace drove up to a Mill’s student near Palm and Taylor Boulevard while she was walking to school in the morning. The same male individual also drove up to a Taylor student near Hillcrest and El Camino while she was walking home after school. One student described the car as a van and the other said it was a silver Mini-Cooper with black and white checkerboards on it. The man said the girls were “really pretty” and asked “What’s your name?” The Detective believes it is an isolated incident, however the department has increased their patrol and a unit circled the area yesterday and again today as well.

It is a good time to remind all of us about the importance of safety around our schools and in our community with many of our students walking to and from school. We would appreciate your assistance with the following messages at home: Please remind our students to walk in groups to and from school. Students also need to be reminded to immediately report any approach from strangers at any time. Should you observe anything suspicious, please call Millbrae Patrol at (650) 363-4911.
