PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A cow on the loose in Longview, Washington injured a Humane Society employee as well as a police officer on Tuesday.
The Longview Police Department said they responded to a call of a cow on the loose in the 700 block of Ocean Beach Highway. They arrived and found the cow in the 3100 block of Pacific Way, where they tried to “regain control of the animal.”
It was at this point that the cow charged its owner and then the Longview police officer, who was rammed in the chest.
Officers used a taser to control the animal but it didn’t work and the cow was “put down by officers” with permission from the owner.
The officer who was injured will not be able to work full duty patrol for “several weeks” due to the injuries he sustained. The Humane Society employee who was injured did not require medical attention.
