TORRANCE (KRON) — A shelter-in-place order has been lifted in the City of Torrance after large flames were spotted coming from an oil refinery.
More than 100,000 people were without power overnight.
The city sent an emergency notification, warning people to shut all doors and windows and to turn off air conditioners and air handling systems.
Those residents are still advised to keep windows closed and fans off.
There has been no word on what caused the flaring event. It happened at the Exxon refinery.
It is unclear at this time if anyone has been injured.
