BERKELEY (KRON) — Lake Anza in Berkeley is closed Wednesday after toxic algae was found in the water, according to the East Bay Regional Park District.
The lake will stay closed until it does not have any signs of blue-green algae.
Tilden Park, which is where the lake is located, will remain open.
Blue-green algae exposure can cause irritation to the skin and eyes, rashes and allergic reactions, according to the California Department of Public Health.
Algae exposure is fatal to dogs, so they should especially avoid contact.
