BRISBANE (KRON) — KRON4 News has learned what investigators confiscated during separate raids of the home and office of Paul Titchener, the man who died in an apparent suicide only hours after being named a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife.
On Feb. 13 at around 11 p.m., 57-year-old Shelly Titchener told her husband she was leaving the house to spend time with a friend, police said. Two days later, her husband reported her missing and at-risk.
The Titcheners’ two adult sons said in a Facebook post that the human remains discovered in the Fremont marshlands located at the eastern foot of the Dumbarton Bridge on Feb. 21 were those of Shelly Titchener.
Fremont Police Department officers served a search warrant Wednesday at the couple’s home located on 445 San Bruno Ave. in Brisbane and impounded their vehicles.
On Thursday, investigators served a second warrant at Paul Titchener’s office located at 100 North Hill Drive, about a mile from the couple’s residence. Officers confiscated multiple items but would not disclose what was taken.
Sources tell KRON that Titchener owned a boat but police would not say if his boat was also impounded or where it was docked.
The night before officers raided the couple’s home, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a man who jumped into the water from the Bay Bridge western span. The Caltrans tow truck driver reported seeing a male sitting on the railing, and then saw the man fall into the water.
A U.S. Coast Guard crew recovered the body of Paul Titchener at about 9:30 p.m., CHP officials said in a statement.
