NEW YORK (KRON) — You can say feathers were flying during a New York house raid. Hundreds of pigeons were found living in a Long Island home on Thursday.

Police and the SPCA found around 350 pigeons flying freely inside an elderly man’s home.

The man, in his seventies, was taken to the hospital in a protective suit that is used for hazardous materials.

The pigeons were allowed to roam around the home as they please.

Officials say bird excrement was almost two feet thick in some parts of the house.

SPCA officers planned to gradually remove the birds throughout the day.CNN contributed to this report.
