OAKLAND (KRON) — Hundreds of families lined the street at Marshawn Lynch’s Beast Mode store in Oakland on Friday for the arrival of Black Santa.
The character was created by NBA star Baron Davis who dreamed up Black Santa when he was recuperating from an injury and thinking about a second career.
“I started Black Santa,” Davis said. “The best thing for the second part of my career to bring storytelling–you know film and television and music through a character that was contemporary who looked like I did, and I wanted my kids to grow up, and I wanted my kids to grow up and believe there was a positive figure they could dream about.”
