CONCORD (KRON) — A 15-year-old high school student in Concord has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a teacher, police said on Thursday.

The assault happened on Wednesday at Mt. Diablo High School at around 1:30 p.m., police said.

The student was not in class at the time and was walking towards the gym, according to police. The teacher then allegedly told the student not to go to the gym.

After more words were exchanged between the two, the student then got angry and punched the teacher, police said.

Video posted on YouTube by Claycord.com shows the struggle between the student and the teacher, who was just trying to protect himself, according to the Concord police. A Mt. Diablo High School resource officer arrested the student.

In the video, the student is in jeans and the teacher is in shorts.

“…The student replied back with some cursing towards the teacher,” Concord police Cpl. Christopher Blakely said. “The teacher said something back to the student and that is when the student walks up and punches him in the face.”

Police said the teacher never hit the student and was trying to detain him until help arrived.

The student was arrested for felony assault on a staff member. The student has since been released to his mother, police said.

The high school has suspended the student for five days and is looking at possible expulsion.
