BINGHAMTON, New York (KRON) — Dashcam video is showing the chilling moments of a 10-car pileup near Binghamton, New York last week.

A semi-trailer plowed through the line of cars. But that is not the end of it.

Bystanders rushed to save a woman from her burning vehicle.

“We did what we should. We did what most people in the world should do. Unfortunately, there was a lot more bystanders who just stood around and took pictures, rather than proceed to help somebody, and that is very unfortunate,” rescuer Chris White said.

Amazingly, she escaped with only cuts and bruises.

Ten people were hospitalized, but none suffered life-threatening injuries.

The video was posted online by the city’s mayor who said he wanted to show the heroics of both motorists and first responders.

“I don’t want any fame for this. This is not something I did for fame. It is just nature,” rescuer Ed Staff said.

Police said they believe the brakes failed on the tractor-trailer.

They said that may have contributed to the crash.
