HAYWARD (KRON)– A Hayward church has been vandalized numerous times, and most recently its statues of children were beheaded.
The incident at St. Bede Catholic Church happened just three weeks ago and is one of several attacks.
One parishioner, Jane Sanders, told KRON4’s Hermela Aregawi that this is the third or fourth this has happened.
The first time, a Virgin Mary statue was decapitated, and the church had her repaired. Vandals came back and did it again, Sanders said.
In 2015, a liquid that resembled blood was poured over other statues.
Hayward police are hoping to catch the suspect responsible for the crimes. The Oakland Diocese called the act senseless.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON:
