SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — A Gilroy High School teacher has been arrested for allegedly using the internet to entice minors to send him illicit images.

Douglas Le, 25, of San Jose, was taken into custody at the campus Tuesday and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, police said.

According to police, a preliminary investigation by San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children revealed that Le was receiving illicit images from minors.

Police say the victims believed they were involved in an online relationship with a female persona.

“Detectives conducted follow up investigation and located evidence that Suspect Le was enticing the minors to send harmful matter via the internet . Detectives interviewed the involved parties and determined that the above listed crimes were alleged to have been committed by suspect Le,” police said in a statement.

In a statement from the Gilroy Unified School District, officials said that Le has been placed on paid administrative leave and will remain on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The district says it is cooperating with the investigation.

“I want to reassure parents and the community that the safety of our students remains our highest priority,” said Superintendent Dr. Deborah Flores. “We are working cooperatively with the San Jose Police Department to continue to ensure the safety of all students in the District as they complete their investigation into this matter.”

Le’s LinkedIn professional profile says that he has been a teacher at Gilroy High School since June 2013. He received a degree in Chemical Biology from the University of California, Berkeley before studying Secondary Science Education at Brown University.

In accordance with California State Education Code, the employee, when hired, was subject to all criminal background screening for employment, which includes fingerprint.

Le is facing two felony counts of child enticement.
