OAKLAND (KRON) — General Manager David Forst has confirmed there was an altercation in the Oakland A’s clubhouse last week.
Forst said both players have been disciplined and have been fined. The two players involved are believed to be Danny Valencia and Billy Butler.
Forst said he nor Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Billy Beane were in the clubhouse at the time.
Forst said the team is moving past the incident.
Butler is expected to be placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list on Monday, pending paperwork. Forst did not say if it was because of the altercation.
“Unfortunately, when you’re having the kind of season that we’re having, it’s a big story,” Forst told reporters before Monday’s game against Cleveland. “If we were winning, it would be colorful. But we’re not.”
Forst would not confirm the reason for the altercation.
