Loved ones are still processing the horrific news after a small plane took off from the East Bay and crashed in an Orange County parking lot on Monday, killing all five people on board.
KRON4 met with one of the victim’s friends on Tuesday.
Floria and Navid Hakimi and Nasmin Ghanadan were three members of the Persian community whose lives were suddenly cut short in that tragic plane crash.
Five people were killed in a plane crash in Orange County on Sunday afternoon as they were preparing to land on a trip from the Bay Area Sunday afternoon for a real-estate related business trip.
Two victims were a Bay Area mother and son, 62-year-old Floria and 32-year-old Navid Hakimi.
Friends say Floria was an advocate with several non-profit groups in the Bay Area, including Moms Against Poverty for which she served as a board member for many years.
Floria’s work with the non-profit gave way to benefit children both in the United States and across the globe.
She raised money to help build an orphanage in Iran and schools in Africa.
Family members of the victims are in anguish by the sudden loss, grieving in private.
A friend of Ghanadan remembers the young woman fondly, saying they attended San Francisco State University, working alongside one another in the economics department. He told KRON4 off camera she will be remembered as a kind soul who helped her community whether through teaching Farsi to children or in projects at school. She was beautiful inside and out.
The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating what led the plane to crash.
