FREMONT (KRON) — Fremont police are looking for a possible witness to a hit-and-run injury crash that happened on Wednesday night.

Police said the crash happened at around 9:49 p.m. when an Alameda County Transit bus driver reported a person in the middle of the street on Fremont Boulevard, just south of Chapel Way in the Irvington District.

When officers arrived, they found a woman lying in the No. 2 northbound lane of Fremont Boulevard between Union Street and Chapel Way. Fremont fire treated the victim, who is now at the hospital in critical condition.

The woman has been identified as a 43-year-old Fremont resident.

The AC Transit bus driver contacted the witness, who left the scene after police arrived, authorities said.

“We would like to speak to this individual and are releasing video obtained from the AC Transit bus. The male appears to be in his 40’s and his vehicle is a light colored, possibly gold, Toyota Camry. We are asking for the public’s assistance to help identify the witness and to provide any additional information that could help officers with this investigation,” police said in a press release.
