SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A rarity in San Francisco, four mountain lion sightings in a four-day span.

In one instance, the puma is caught on camera. And a cougar was last spotted near Lake Merced.

Wildlife experts believe it has since left the city, headed down the Peninsula, but not before taking a stroll through town first.

Wildlife experts say cougar sightings along the Penninsula are more common. If you come across one, appear as big and threatening as possible, make noise, and eye contact.

The big cats are afraid of humans.
