MORAGA (BCN) — The town of Moraga and neighboring Orinda experienced a spate of attempted residential burglaries that were interrupted by homeowners within a short period, police said on Wednesday.
There are four separate incidents that occurred on Draeger, Woodford and Buckingham drives in Moraga within a 24-hour span that police are investigating as residential burglaries.
Two of the attempted burglaries transpired as the homeowner was in the residence and the suspect was scared off, according to Moraga police.
Orinda police are also investigating two residential burglaries that were interrupted by homeowners in that city.
One resulted in a widespread search when the suspect – who was spotted by a homeowner at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday on Wild Plum Way – fled on BART into Lafayette.
The suspect is still outstanding, according to the most recent police update.
Those with information about the recent incidents have been asked to call Moraga Police Department at (925) 888-7055.
Moraga police have advised residents to take precautionary steps such as locking doors – including side gates – and windows. Police also asked residents to consider installing and using alarm or video surveillance
systems.
