SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—The city of San Francisco held an event for LGBT service members Saturday night.
This is all part of the city’s Fleet Week celebrations.
KRON4’s Stanley Roberts was invited to the event where Supervisor Scott Wiener issued a proclamation.
It is the first Fleet Week celebration honoring LGBT service members.
This special event comes after a naval ship was named after former city Supervisor Harvey Milk, who was in the Navy for four years.
Milk fought for the rights of the LGBT community when he was in office.
Some say Milk was forced out of the Navy because he was gay.
