NOVATO (KRON) — Update from Marin Fire:

18 acres, air drop protected homes with firefighters on scene. 30% contained. All homes safe. Forward progression stopped.


Fire fighters are battling a brush fire in Novato, Friday afternoon.

According to fire crews, the Marin Valley fire erupted at Marin Valley Drive and has scorched up to ten acres leaving several homes threatened in the area.

Novato Fire department first tweeted about the fire around 12:30 p.m., and Cal Fire air tankers are assisting the brush fire.

Fire crews are asking people to avoid the areas of Bolling and Nave Avenue’s and Marin Valley Drive.
