SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Family members and co-workers remain in shock Friday night following the murder of a San Francisco chef.
Frank Galicia’s body was found Wednesday morning inside San Francisco’s Westfield shopping center.
On Friday afternoon, Frank Galicia’s older brother Louis came to the mall to see for himself where his brother was murdered. Galicia’s family lives in Los Angeles.
“Wanted to come here to the scene, and trying to get a perspective of what Frank was looking at in his last moments, walked the mall,” Louis said.
Frank’s body was discovered inside the mall at about 10 a.m. Wednesday morning near the Jessie Street entrance to Bloomingdales.
While this area is believed to be a stairwell, it is not open to the public.
Louis said that is not what he has learned from those who gather in the area.
“They just said this is an area that tends to have a lot of activity at night, primarily by homeless.” Louis said. “Sometimes, they will go inside the stairwells, leave them propped open.”
That raises even more questions for Louis, but he’s hopeful the multitude of surveillance cameras inside and outside the mall will help find his brother’s killer.
Earlier in the day, Galicia visited the staff at Sons & Daughters restaurant, where Frank had been a chef for the last 10 months.
His brother said cooking was his passion, and now, his co-workers have started a GoFundMe page to raise money for a reward for information and help for covering the costs his family will now incur.
