BURLINGAME (KRON) — The 2016 California Republican Party Convention will be held in Burlingame this weekend.
All three Republican presidential candidates, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich are expected to attend.
Trump is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Hyatt Regency.
On Thursday afternoon, KRON spoke with a Bay Area group that is opposed to Trump’s policies.
They said they are calling for protests outside the convention to hopefully disrupt his speech on Friday.
Yvette Felarca is an organizer with the Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action, Integration, and Immigrant Rights and Fight for Equality By Any Means Necessary, or BAMN for short.
“We are organizing and calling for lots of people to come out tomorrow to have a mass militant protest to shut down Donald Trump,” Felarca said.
The Republican Convention is one of the first big presidential election events being held in California before the state’s primary on June 7.
“There’s going to be a high amount of state and national media there,” California Republican party spokeswoman Harmeet Dhillon said. “And probably a lot of protesters.”
