DISCOVERY BAY (KRON) – Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened overnight in Discovery Bay, according to Lt. Herbert of Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department.
Around 12:50 a.m. Sunday police received calls of a disturbance near Keats Ct.
While deputies were on their way, police say another caller reported a man was shot and laying on the street on the 1700 block of Wilde Dr.
Responding officers found a good Samaritan giving CPR to an unresponsive man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police called in paramedics to assist with CPR.
An ambulance came and took over giving CPR, but victim died at the scene.
Police say two cars, each with several occupants in their late teens or early 20’s, are believed to be involved in this shooting.
The occupants, all males and one female, were described as either Hispanic or Asian.
One car is described as a newer, matte-grey American mid-sized car, possibly a Challenger or Mustang.
The other car is described as a red-colored Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Police have not determined a motive in the shooting.
They say the victim is a 48-year-old man who was walking around his own neighborhood.
Police are not releasing his identity at this time.
Police do not believe residents in the area are in danger, as they believe the shooting was directly related to the original disturbance.
There are no details available on what that disturbance was.
