FLORIDA (KRON) — Fire and wildlife crews rescued a manatee that was stuck inside of a storm drain in Florida, Wednesday evening.

According to officials, the manatee was spotted by city workers this morning in Jacksonville, Fla.

Crews from Jacksonville Fire and Florida’s Fish and Wildlife responded to scene, and were working on extracting the mammal for several hours.

The manatee had some scrapes on it’s nose and did not have a lot of room to move around, according to city workers.

Fish and Wildlife crews were unsure as to how the mammal made it’s way into the storm drain and how it became stuck, but they were optimistic the rescue process.
