COTATI (KRON) — Cotati police are looking for two men who held a homeowner up at gunpoint on Thursday morning.

The two suspects were caught on surveillance cameras, as they walked up to the house on Lakewood Avenue and then inside through the front door.

It was broad daylight, just before 9 a.m. Police said one of those men was armed and used the gun to force the homeowner to open a safe and hand over money and jewelry.

One of the suspects did fire his gun, but the bullet went into a wall and no one was hurt, police said.

Neighbors are on edge, saying this is the latest in a string of concerning incidents.

“We had a raid at the house across the street here…about a week and a half ago,” neighbor Sean Lowe said. “I’ve seen high-speed chases go down this street about 100 miles an hour with helicopters chasing the cars. So, we’re getting a lot of the riff raff and a lot of that kind of stuff coming into the neighborhood.”

A Cotati police lieutenant said burglaries like this are extremely rare in Cotati.

The homeowner told police he recognized one of the suspects, and police are looking into whether they are connected.
