Contra Costa County (KRON/BCN) — A woman was pepper-sprayed as two suspects scuffled with her before stealing her vehicle on Tuesday in an unincorporated area near Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the incident around 6:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of Treat Boulevard, located near the Pleasant Hill BART station.
A victim reported that two men confronted her in the parking lot of an apartment complex. One man, who said he had a knife, demanded keys to the Acura sedan she had just parked, sheriff’s officials said.
As the suspects attempted to wrestle the keys away from the victim, one of the men pepper-sprayed her.
They eventually took the keys and drove away with the Acura. Deputies did not find the vehicle or the suspects in a later search, according to the sheriff’s office.
Another carjacking happened that day at around 10:15 p.m. that night, police said.
Concord police said a woman sitting in her car parked behind the restaurant was approached by a man who told her he had a gun and to get out.
Cpl. Christopher Blakely said the victim described the man as African American, between 30 and 40 years old, with a salt and pepper colored beard.
Blakely said the woman didn’t struggle with the man. Instead, the man got out of the car, and he drove off, police said.
On Wednesday morning, the car was recovered on Hillsborough Court, but with the carjacker gone.
The vehicle is described as a gray-colored, four-door 2000 Acura TL with a license plate number of 4JKU758.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
