VIDEO: CHP rescues boy who fell off cliff into ocean near Half Moon Bay

Incredible video shows the daring rescue of a father and son whom officials say are “lucky to be alive” following their rescue at Cowell Ranch State Beach on Saturday.

Officials say shortly after 6 p.m. they received a report that a 10-year-old boy was playing on the edge of a cliff when he fell about 15 feet into the Pacific Ocean.

The boy’s father then jumped into the ocean to rescue him, but the two were swept to the south, away from the beach, according to CHP Golden Gate Division Air Operations.

Officials say a Good Samaritan jumped in to help and was able to aid the father and son in making it back to shore and onto a beach.

Firefighters were able to rappel down the cliff using a rope system to rescue the victims who were “cold, but not severely injured.”

Officials say none of the victims were seriously injured.
