MONTEREY (KRON) — New video on Monday shows a dramatic rescue in a burning car where a CHP officer in Monterey likely saved several lives.

The CHP officer happened to be behind this car on Highway 1 in Monterey. A Monterey Herald photographer happened to be behind the CHP cruiser when this played out.

Two women and two young children were in the car.

A 1-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl were unstrapped from their car seats. The adults appear paralyzed by fear.

CHP Ofc. Kaleo Clissold jumped into action, performing a heroic act.

All four people in the car were checked out for smoke inhalation as a precaution.
