VIDEO: CHP officer knocks motorcycle rider over in Southern California

Members of a Southern California motorcycle club are outraged after a rider’s encounter with a California Highway Patrol officer.

Video of the incident appears to show the CHP cruiser knocking down the rider.

Cell phone video shows a glimpse of Fallen Brothers Memorial Ride.

In it, you see bikers waiting for a red light in Rancho Cucamonga when all of a sudden, you hear police sirens.

In the video, you can see when they get further in the distance, a cruiser pulls to the right, knocking the rider off his bike.

Jose Figueroa was there.

He said that biker was riding in a pack and having issues with the officer saying, he was being aggressive toward him.

“He panicked, our brother panicked,” Figueroa said. “He got out the way, he sped up to get out of way, and the cop chased him, we pulled to the liquor store and that’s when he rammed him.”

In the video, bikers rush over to their friend.

At this point, he is already handcuffed by the CHP officer.

Desiree Garcia is the biker’s wife.

“From what I saw on video, you know, I seen my husband’s brake lights going on, and it looked like he was trying to pull over and the cop just hit him out of nowhere,” Garcia said.

Her husband was taken to the hospital and then jail.

It could have been worse.

“I could have lost my husband,” Garcia said. “I don’t know what I would have done.”

The group is now coming together and taking legal action against the California Highway Patrol.

“A lot of people believe the cop used excessive force,” Figueroa said. “He shouldn’t have done that. He should have done that in a more proper manner.”

The CHP says it’s investigating the incident.
