CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting on I-80 near Highway 4 in Contra Costa County.

The shooting happened near Hercules. All lanes of Eastbound I-80 were blocked but have since been reopened.

The shooting was reported at 9:16 p.m. on the eastbound side of Highway 80.

One person in a car was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic in the area was heavily delayed and drivers are advised to expect delays, according to the CHP.

Tuesday night’s shooting is the latest in a series of roughly 20 that have occurred on East Bay highways since November.

This would be the 27th highway shooting in the area since November.
