SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The first big rain of the season is keeping a lot of people busy ahead of time, and Caltrans got an early jump on everything it needed to do.

Caltrans is currently working on highway flood prevention. That means several things.

The main thing was clearing out drains, leaves, tree limbs, and especially trash.

Caltrans is also making sure water has a place to go. Also, it is checking on pump houses around the Bay Area.

Caltrans has been clearing out culverts beneath highways too, keeping water from rising to road level.

Less litter means less flooding.
