SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A San Francisco 49ers player has been released from the team following his arrest early Monday morning in connection with an alleged assault at a hotel at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf.
The San Francisco 49ers have cut tight end Bruce Miller from the team after he got into an altercation in San Francisco on Monday morning. It happened around 2:45 a.m.
Police say Miller attempted to check into the Fisherman’s Wharf Marriott Hotel on Sunday. However, all the rooms were taken.
Miller tried to enter a room that wasn’t his and was taken by an elderly couple. The couple’s 29-year-old son told Miller that he was in the wrong room and the football player attacked the man.
The 70-year-old father came to help his son, but Miller punched him in the face. Both the son and father were sent to a hospital for their injuries.
Miller was found across the street at a different hotel and was arrested for charges of aggravated assault, elder abuse, threats, and battery. He was intoxicated.
Responding officers were able to locate Miller across the street at a Travelodge hotel, where they arrested him.
Miller has been booked into San Francisco County Jail. He has since been released from jail after posting $78,000 bail.
The two victims were taken to a hospital for their injuries.
“I was inside, and I saw in the camera a guy coming from outside,” said a witness, a hotel employee who did not reveal his name to KRON4. “He went back there, and he was trying to throw up over there. He couldn’t, and he came outside this way, and he sat down here and he started vomiting over here.”
Following the news of the arrest, the 49ers released a statement saying Miller had been released.
In June 2015, Miller pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace in connection with a March incident involving his ex-fiancé. In that incident, Miller allegedly threw the woman’s cellphone and smashed it during an argument at a Santa Clara hotel.
