BERKELEY (KRON) — A big tree has fallen in Berkeley on Monday afternoon.
It fell in the Rockridge area of Berkeley, right near the Oakland border, at 3158 College Avenue, next to Noah’s bagels. The tree fell on an apartment building.
The 36-inch diameter elm tree came down at around 3:30 p.m. In fact, witnesses tell KRON4 there was a woman walking under the tree at the time.
There was no broken glass and no structural issues with the building. Because of the tree’s location, it is a City of Berkeley tree, meaning the city is paying the tab for the tree-removal company to take it down.
This scenerio could become a bit more common all across the Bay Area if the rain and wind continue.
There were no immediate injuries reported.
The tree will not be fully cleaned up until Tuesday.
