OAKLAND (KRON) — The Oakland Ghost Ship warehouse fire claimed the lives of 36 people more than one week ago, and on Saturday night, a benefit concert to raise money for the victims is being held in San Francisco.

It is happening at the Hemlock Tavern. All the proceeds at the door will go to the families of victims who lost their lives in the Oakland Ghost Ship fire.

Originally, the event was planned months in advance. But following the tragedy, three bands who are playing here at the Hemlock Tavern on Saturday decided to put that money toward the fundraiser.

It will be donated through the web page YouCaring.com and that has already collected close to $500,000 for the cause.

The Oakland mayor’s office and Red Cross will work together to make sure that money is distributed to the families affected and those injured trying to escape the fire.

It’s $8 to attend. Doors open at 9 p.m.

The show will be on until midnight.
