FREMONT (KRON) — A new video game that has people getting up and moving around has exploded everywhere.

On Monday, KRON told you about Pokémon GO, the game that 5 million people have downloaded in just two weeks.

Now, KRON is learning some Bay Area places are hotspots for the augmented reality game.

One hotspot is the Centerville Library in Fremont, where KRON ran into lots of kids who are finding Pokémon characters on their phones.

Apparently, several libraries are ‘gyms,’ where you can catch Pokémon.

The librarian at Centerville said he has seen circulation go up in the last week because kids come to catch Pokémon and end up checking out books while they’re there.

Another place that is a big stop for players is the Fremont Police Station. Apparently, it’s also a gym.

Fremont police noticed, and sent out a Facebook message on Tuesday, asking people not to go play the game in their lobby.

KRON met up with Sgt. Ricardo Cortez to ask if they have had any problems with people hanging out there. Fremont police said they have not had anyone actually play the game inside the station.

And it is not just public buildings that are hotspots.

KRON has seen people playing Pokémon GO around the KRON Station on Front Street in San Francisco.

KRON also learned the Embarcadero is big for the game. There are plenty of places to go for this game.

Fremont police did warn people, though, to be aware of their surroundings.

Don’t get so caught up in the game that you aren’t paying attention to other things or people nearby, police said.
