CONCORD (KRON) — BART police are investigating a series of robberies that happened at the Concord Station on Monday afternoon.
On Monday at around 1:51 p.m., a male high school student attending Olympic High School was confronted at the Concord BART Station bus zone, according to BART police Lt. Aaron Ledford.
Two high school-aged males approached the student and demanded his backpack, Ledford said. When he refused, the suspects grabbed the backpack and ran off.
The student was able to recover his backpack, but one of the suspects reportedly broke a bottle and slashed the student in the hand, resulting in a “superficial wound” to his hand.
The student reported the incident to the school, which notified police. The student did not press charges, Ledford said.
About 20 minutes later, at about 2:00 p.m., three suspects approached another male high school student at the Concord BART Station bus zone, police said. The suspects approached this second student and tried to grab his backpack.
This second student fought back, ran off, but was hit in the head with a metal object. The student was treated for a head wound and the injury is considered to be non-life threatening.
This second student told BART police that he knew two of the suspects, but the student also declined to press charges.
The first two suspects are described as black men, about 17 to 18 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, and wearing a dark hoodie. The third suspect is described as a Hispanic man, also about 17 to 18 years of age.
All three suspects are at-large, Ledford said.
“There is certainly a number of what we would call suspicious individuals hanging around this area, and a lot of dope smoking and stuff,” BART passenger Allan Lavigne said, “what i would call gang member type looking individuals, so you got to keep your head on a swivel.”
Police said the first victims and the suspects may know each other and charges were not filed in either robbery.
Police are reviewing surveillance images to try and identify the suspects.
